Most of Georgia was left without light

An accident occurred in the power system of Georgia on Wednesday night, as a result of which most of the country was left without electricity.

The reason for the power outage in most of Georgia was a problem with the large Meskheti power line, the Georgian State Electricity System said in a statement. The problem affected many districts and large cities, including Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi and Poti, writes Sputnik Georgia.

“Due to the shutdown of the 400-kilowatt Meskheti transmission line connecting the electrical systems of Georgia and Turkey, the import of electricity from Turkey was interrupted, and the electricity supply was cut off to most of the country,” the statement of the State Electricity System of Georgia says. p>

The report notes that work is underway to eliminate the problem and the supply of electricity to all de-energized areas is gradually being restored.
