The Higher State Council (Higher Northwest) of Libya elected Muhammad Teele as its new chairman.
Voting in the State Supreme Council was broadcast live by the Libyan media.
In addition to the current chairman of Khalid al-Mishri, Muhammad Teele, Naji Mukhtar and hiring al-Hami participated.
Following the results of the first round of voting, in which 129 out of 145 members of the Mishri Council received 49 votes, Techel 39, Mukhtar 36 and Hami 4 votes, with one abstained.
As a result of the second round of voting, 67 members of the State Council voted for the candidacy of Tecel, while its competitor, already the ex-head of the Higher State Council Hadel al-Mishri, was able to enlist the support of 62 members of this body.
Mishri, who was elected chairman of the Supreme State Council of Libya in April 2018, will transmit a post that he occupied for more than 5 years, Muhammad Tecel.
Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Reconciliation Abdulhamid Dibaiba congratulated Tekel and wished him success in a new position.
Dibaib also called on the HCS to take an active part in holding the elections of the head of state, which will end up with the transitional process in Libya.
