Museums And Ancient Ruins Of Turkey For 6 Months Were Visited By About 14 Million People

Museums and ancient ruins of Turkey for the first half of this year were visited by about 14 million people.

This was announced by the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Mehmet Nuri Ersa on the social network.

He noted that the priceless historical, cultural and archaeological heritage of these lands causes curiosity all over the world.

“In the first six months of 2024, our museums and ancient ruins visited almost 14 million people. The number of local residents and foreigners traveling around the historical Anatolian lands increased by 12 percent compared to the same period last year,” the publication said .

Ersa expressed satisfaction with the fact that interest in the “excavated heritage of these lands, shedding light on the history of mankind” is growing every day.

The minister also shared a list of museums and ancient ruins, which took the most visitors.

The largest number of visitors is observed in the ancient Ruins of Ephesus

If in the first half of last year, museums and ruins visited 12,381,645 people, then for the same period this year they were visited by 13,842,840 people, that is, 12 percent more.

The list of museums and ancient ruins, which took the most visitors for the specified period, led the ancient Ruins of the Ephesus – 1,117,528 visitors.

The following are the museum of the mevlyana in Konier (1 102 358 visitors), the ancient city of Hierapol in Denizley (985 265), Gereme in Nevchekhir (501 236) and Zelva Pashabaglara in Nevchekhir (464 101).
