The mass riots that began in France after the police murder of a 17-year-old teenager are a protest of youth against discrimination and racism. This thought in an interview with Anadol was expressed by a member of the European Society for the Combat CCIE (CCIE) Rashid Tyravi.
According to him, the murder of 17-year-old Nael again proved that the French authorities do not give any value of the life of young people from poor areas.
Parents of young people also take part in protests, who believe that law enforcement agencies, instead of protecting their children, are a great threat to adolescents themselves, the representative of CCIE stated.
Tamravi emphasized that the murder of a teenager in a suburbs of Paris also became a manifestation of not only Islamophobia, but also xenophobia. “They treat young Arabs as ordinary citizens, but as a threat to public order,” he stated.
Tamravi noted that the French police often use unacceptable and discriminatory phrases such as “Muslims, Arabs, refugees and migrants”, in particular in poor areas.
“Nael’s death is just the next tragedy in the chain of cruel police crimes in relation to young people from poor quarters. In 1983, after the brutal murder of 21 people on the basis of racism in France, a large -scale march of protest was carried out with an equality. Nael’s name became Another in the list of teenagers killed by the police, ”he said.
Tamravi called the riots that lasting in France “a surge of anger against racism.”
“The youth once again realized that their life is considered less valuable than the life of ethnic French. Parents, in turn, believe that law enforcement agencies, instead of protecting their children, on the contrary, compose a great threat to them. People consider Nael their brother, son, friend, ”he said.
CCIE representative recalled that mass protests after France spread to Belgium and Sweden.
“The spark for protests was a video with a deliberate murder of a teenager. Among the main causes of protests – the impunity of the police, the refusal of the authorities to recognize the presence of a rooted problem of xenophobia and racism in the ranks of the police. Moreover, the position of Paris does not change, despite the numerous reports of international organizations and inaction before a person of the problems of minorities and communities, including Muslims, ”he said.
