the Bank of Russia is not involved in negotiations on the possible lifting of a part of Western sanctions. This was stated by the head of the Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina on the fields of the Forum “Cybersecurity in Finance”, answering the corresponding question.

“The Central Bank does not participate in such negotiations, I do not know anything about this,” said Nabiullina, whose words are given by Russian media.

In addition, the head of the Central Bank noted that the international payment systems Visa and Mastercard did not apply to the issue of returning to the Russian market.

“I think there is premature about it for now,” she said.

According to Nabiullina, about 570 billion rubles of Russian investors were “defrosted” in 2024.

“After freezing the funds of Russian investors who did not fall under sanctions, we, together with the government, developed different schemes to release these funds. Some of the funds were released, last year it was about 570 billion rubles,” Nabiullina said. “Defrost” touched about 1.5 million people, she said.
