National Assembly Of South Korea Approved Proposal For Impeachment To President

The National Assembly (Parliament) of South Korea supported the proposal for the impeachment of President Yun Sok Yolya.

According to Yonhap news agency, in the Parliament of South Korea a vote was voted at the proposal of the impeachment of the president. The corresponding initiative was submitted to the National Assembly on the grounds that the short -term martial law declared by Yun John Yol on December 3 is “unconstitutional and illegal.”

To make a decision on impeachment of the President, the approval of 200 deputies was required. 204 parliamentarians voted for the resignation of Yun Sok Yolya, against 85.

Three deputies abstained from voting, eight bulletins were recognized as invalid.

Meanwhile, the final decision on the removal of Yun Jole Yolya remains with his office. The court has at its disposal 6 months to approve or reject the decision on the impeachment of the President of South Korea. If 6 out of 9 judges approve the corresponding decision, the president of South Korea will be removed from office.

To make a decision on the impeachment of the president, it was necessary to gain 200 votes of deputies, which is 2/3 of the total number of members of the parliament. The opposition bloc with 192 out of 300 seats in the National Assembly, to ensure the majority, needed to support at least 8 deputies from the ruling party “Civil Power”.

On December 7, the National Assembly did not support a similar proposal, since the necessary number of votes was not provided. Then most deputies from the ruling party “Civil Power” boycotted voting. Only 3 deputies from this party spoke in support of the proposal for the impeachment of the president.

Introduction of martial law in South Korea

President Yun Sok Yol announced martial law on December 3, referring to the participation of the opposition in “anti -state activities”.

After that, the Ministry of Defense sent instructions on the meetings to the military commanders and called for being in a state of increased readiness. Military personnel who were instructed to ensure the implementation of martial law entered the building of the National Assembly.

At an emergency meeting of the Parliament, the proposal to cancel martial law was supported by 190 deputies. Representatives of the administration of the National Assembly said that after the vote, martial law became “invalid”.

After voting in parliament, the president changed his decision, gathered a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and officially announced the abolition of martial law after receiving the approval of the cabinet.

Later, the President of South Korea was banned from traveling outside the country due to the investigation in the case of “Gosizmen”.
