Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands again sent military personnel to Kosovo, resuming their participation in a peacekeeping mission.
This was announced by NATO forces to maintain peace in Kosovo (KFOR)
According to KFOR, the military contingents of these countries were officially met at the ceremony of raising flags at the headquarters of the mission.
KFOR commander, Major General Enriko Barduani, expressed satisfaction in connection with the arrival of new personnel and emphasized that the expansion of the mission is evidence of the general and firm adherence to the idea of sustainable security in Kosovo and stability in the region.
“KFOR continues to fulfill its mission to ensure a safe and stable environment for all peoples and communities living in Kosovo,” follows from the statement.
KFOR forces, which began their activities in Kosovo on June 12, 1999 according to the UN Security Council of the UN Security Council, have more than 4,500 military personnel from 29 countries – both NATO members and states that are not part of the Alliance.
This group now includes Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
