NATO is expected in the near future a big battle for Donbass. This was stated by the Secretary General of Alliance Jens Stoltenberg on the basis of a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels on Thursday, April 7, reports Deutsche Welle.
Stoltenberg is confident that the removal of Russia of troops from the northern regions of Ukraine is not a retreat, but regrouping forces with the subsequent transformation into the east. “We expect a big battle in the Donbas, a big Russian offensive. And this is the reason why NATO states today pointed to the urgency of the provision of great support to Ukraine,” NATO Secretary said.
According to the Alliance Secretary General, the simplest way to stop the war would be the decision of the Russian President Vladimir Putin to bring troops from Ukraine and seriously participate in the negotiations. “But we must be realistic. We do not see signs that President Putin has changed its main goal – control over Ukraine and significant victories on the battlefield,” added Stoltenberg.
