NATO: position of alliance on territorial integrity of Ukraine has not changed

NATO stated that they support the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the position of the alliance on this issue has not changed.

A senior representative of the organization in a conversation with an ANADOLOL correspondent (AA) was commented by the words of the head of the NATO Office, Styan Jensen that “Ukraine can become a member of NATO in exchange for the transfer of part of its territory of Russia.”

“The position of NATO is clear and unchanged. We fully support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as confirmed by NATO leaders at the summit in Vilnius in July,” he said.

NATO official added that “the Alliance will continue to support Ukraine, no matter how much time it takes. We are determined to achieve a fair and strong world. Ukraine itself will decide when and under what conditions the world will be achieved”.

Earlier, the head of the NATO office Styan Jensen suggested that Ukraine can receive membership in the alliance in exchange for the concession of Russia part of its territory. According to him, this may be part of the end of the war in Ukraine, Norwegian media write.

“I think that the decision may consist to Ukraine to refuse the territory and received in return NATO membership. I do not say that this should be so. But this may be a possible decision,” said Jensen.

He believes that you need to have some ideas about what the situation with security for Ukraine after the end of the war.

Jensen indicated that the discussion about the possible post -war status is already going on, and that questions about the assignment of the territory of Russia were raised by others.

In response to these statements of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, he said that “Talk about joining NATO in exchange for territorial concessions are unacceptable.”
