NATO Secretary General: Alliance Will Continue To Invest In Defense And Support Ukraine

NATO will continue to increase the production of defense products, strengthen Ukraine’s support in conflict with the Russian Federation and strengthen regional cooperation.

About this, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, in a video message to the participants of the sixth forum The Atlantic Future Forum (Atlantic Future) in the UK.

According to him, all these tasks are the main priorities of NATO in preparation for the Summit of the North Atlantic Alliance next year.

“In the very heart of Europe, a hot conflict continues, in which China, Iran and North Korea support the military vehicle (Russian President Vladimir) Putin and receive a lot in return,” said the head of the military-political bloc.

The world is experiencing a period when they want to change the global order with chaos, and NATO will work to ensure that this does not happen, assured the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance.

Rutte said that preparation for the NATO summit next year in the Hague (Netherlands) is carried out in three main directions.

First of all, the head of the alliance emphasized, the Allies should increase their defense costs in excess of the target indicator by 2 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP).

“We will need to spend more and spend well to increase production and activate the defense industry,” he stressed.

The second important area in the work of the Alliance is the support of Ukraine, said Rutte. “Until now, our support helped Ukraine to continue the struggle. We need to do much more to change the course of the conflict. Yes, we have to pay for this, but this is only part of our military budget. And the consequences of Russia’s victory go far beyond the limits of Ukraine,” attracted it Attention Mark Rutte.

Thirdly, he continued, NATO deepens partnership in wide geography, from the European Union, the Asia-Pacific region to its southern neighbors.

“Russia’s aggression is not limited to Ukraine, China, Iran and North Korea. When the aggressor give courage, and they threaten all of us, their destabilizing actions have far -reaching consequences. We must continue to invest in NATO. The transatlantic future is the only way to ensure our Freedom and safety, ”added the Secretary General of the Military-Political Bloc.
