NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg visited Turkey. At a joint press conference with the Foreign Minister of Turkey, Mevlut Chavushoglu on Thursday, Stoltenberg condemned the burning of the Qur’an, which was arranged by Swedish nationalists in Stockholm.
“I understand that the burning of the Qur’an in Stockholm provoked a strong reaction in Turkey, I share this pain. I personally consider the burning of sacred books a shameful act, I understand the feelings of Muslims in Turkey and all over the world. I also categorically condemn the burning of the Qur’an. I welcome the fact that Sweden was able to prevent other shares with the burning of the Qur’an, ”Stoltenberg said.
According to Stoltenberg, not all deeds, although immoral, contradict the laws. At the same time, the state should take a clear position on such issues.
