European allies invested hundreds of billions of dollars in US defense industry. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in an interview with the German information agency DPA.
According to him, this amount can increase significantly if the US defense industry does not need the approval of Congress, Pentagon and the White House.
In particular, he pointed out increased demand of European country to Patriot systems. “They cost 2 billion euros each. So this is a very big money for the US economy,” he said.
Rutte expressed the opinion that the elected US President Donald Trump will increase pressure on European allies with low defense costs.
