NATO will continue to close cooperation with Turkey, which has made a significant contribution to the global struggle against the terrorist organization ISIS. This was stated by the Secretands of the North Atlantic Alliance Jens Stoltenberg.
“Turkey is an important ally of NATO. If we just look at the card, we will understand the importance of this country. This is the only NATO ally, which borders with Iraq and Syria. Turkey infrastructure plays an extremely important role in the fight against ISIL,” said Stoltenberg At the event jointly organized by NATO, the German Council on International Relations and Institute of Brookings.
The head of the block also welcomed the role of Ankara in the settlement of the migration crisis: “We will continue to work closely with Turkey to stabilize our southern neighborhood.”
Relaxing recent tensions in Turkish-Greek relations, Stoltenberg noted that NATO is an effective platform for overcoming disagreements inside the alliance.
