Today (28 March 2021), NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg joined virtually the authorities of North Macedonia as they celebrate one year of membership, as NATO’s thirtieth Ally.
The Secretary General highlighted North Macedonia’s significant achievement, at the end “of a long journey, paved with courage and determination.” He also underscored the benefits of North Macedonia’s accession to NATO, for the country’s security and for stability in the region and the wide euro-atlantic area; and pointed out North Macedonia’s continued contributions to our shared security and joint cooperation with NATO Allies in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
