NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that he was looking forward to meeting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to discuss the growing problems of ensuring collective security, including the threat of terrorism, conflict in Ukraine and the crisis in the Middle East.
“In a world that is becoming more unpredictable, Turkey makes an invaluable contribution to the Alliance, strengthening the deterrence on the southern flank,” Rutte told Anadol, speaking of the first visit to Ankaru.
Turkey has the second largest army of NATO, an impressive defense industry and has been a strong and devoted ally for more than 70 years, the head of the military-political bloc emphasized.
NATO reported that today Rutte will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Minister of National Defense Yashar Guller.
It was noted that the head of the alliance will also meet with representatives of the Turkish defense industry, visit the objects of the Turkish aerospace company Tusaş and the Mausoleum of the founder of the Turkish Republic of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
