In the conditions of a protracted war in Ukraine, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called for an increase in weapons production in Western military alliance.
“We need a huge amount of ammunition. We need spare parts,” Stoltenberg said in an interview with the British radio station BBC 4.
According to him, the service of weapons already set by Ukraine is at least no less important than discussing the issue of increasing the number of weapons.
NATO should be ready to support Ukraine in the long run, Stoltenberg continued. There were no signs from Russia that she abandoned her main goal – the capture of Ukraine.
“Ukrainian forces had an advantage for several months. But we also know that Russia has mobilized many new forces, many of which are now undergoing training,” he said. “This indicates that they are ready to continue the war and, possibly, possibly , try to start a new offensive. “
It is likely that this war will also end at the negotiating table, but the force of Ukraine on the battlefield is crucial for the results of such negotiations, the NATO Secretary General added. According to him, Kyiv himself had to decide on what conditions he would sit at the negotiating table.
