The West must supply Ukraine more heavy weapons to help it restrain the offensive of Russian troops in the east of the country. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, reports Deutsche Welle.
According to Stoltenberg, Ukraine “absolutely depends” on Western military assistance in order to survive the “cruel Russian invasion.” The NATO Secretary General emphasized that the alliance has already taken some steps to increase the supply of heavy weapons to Kyiv. Further actions in this direction, the leaders of the NATO countries will discuss June 15 in Brussels.
At the same time, the Polish Prime Minister Mateust Moravecki said that the West is not “doing enough” to support Ukraine, and urged Kyiv more weapons, including artillery. “We will have no excuses if we allow Russia to win. It will be a complete failure and disaster for the European Union, for our values and for NATO,” Moravesky said.
The leadership of Ukraine has repeatedly asked Western allies to increase and accelerate the supply of weapons, in the conditions of ongoing battles, recalls the publication.
