Natural Reserve For Caspian Seals Will Create Natural Reserve In Kazakhstan

In Astana, they will create a special reserve to preserve the population of Caspian seals and their habitats. This was reported by Kazinform agency with reference to the presidential adviser, special representative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on international environmental cooperation, Zulfia Suleimenov, who spoke about projects implemented in the Caspian Sea.

“Active work is being carried out on the Caspian Sea, there are several initiatives of the head of state that I can note. One of them is the creation of a reserve for the Caspian seals that will save the habitat and roy of Caspian seals. In addition, the research institute of study of the Caspian Sea was created, but at the same time, of course, we are now conducting separate discussions, consultations on consultations. Additional projects that we will already additionally talk about at the stage when they will be agreed, say, the work is being finalized.

Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic explained why the seals went to land in the Mangistau region.

The department noted that in late February – early March 2025, a sharp decrease in air and water temperature was recorded in the northern part of the Caspian Sea.

“At the same time, during this period the winds of the western direction in the direction of the coast prevailed, which contributed to the displacement of the fragments of ice and their dense pressing against each other, leaving the seals of the possibility of immersion in water. Thus, adults lost the possibility of nutrition. In turn, ice floes under the influence of wind and water flow, were shifted to the coast with young individuals who were located on them. In search of food, the seals went to the coast in the area of ​​the Karazhanbas and Kalamkas deposits, since in difficult weather conditions they lost their landmarks, ”the Committee of the Fisheries of the Ministry of Agriculture said.
