Nursultan Nazarbayeva Foundation filed a lawsuit against Journalism Development Network – a news site based in the United States that specializes in organized crime and combat corruption, Fergana News.

As noted by the publication, the reason for the proceedings was an article dated January 19, 2022, which stated that Nazarbayev fully controls billions of dollars intended to finance local educational projects through the Foundation. The plaintiff considered that the assumptions set forth in the article defend his business reputation, are false and slanderous. At the same time, the fund demanded material compensation from the defendant, the amount of which is not called. It is noted that the interests of the Fund are the lawyer Matthew Schwartz from the Washington company Boies Schiller Flexner.
Executive Director of Journalism Development Network Drew Sullivan, in turn, said that the lawsuit of the Kazakhstani Fund has no reason, and that journalists adhere to their version.
