Russia regarding the US resolution on conflict in Ukraine, adopted on Monday, the UN Security Council (SB), as a starting point on the way to the world. This was stated by the Permanent Representative of Russia at the UN, Vasily Neveenzya, commenting on the motives of voting on the American project of the UN Security Council resolution in Ukraine.
“The text accepted now is not perfect, but this, in fact, is the first attempt to accept a constructive and focused on the future of the Council product that speaks of the path to the world, and not a faning conflict. The conflict that has a very difficult genesis and does not come down to the confrontation The Russian Federation and Ukraine, as Ukraine itself and its European puppeteers try to impose it on us. We take the accepted text only as a starting point for further efforts on the peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, ”said Nebenja.
The forefront noted that the Russian Federation notes “constructive movements in the US position in the Ukrainian conflict, an attempt to embody which, as we understand, was the draft resolution submitted today for consideration”.
“In order to maintain this generally reasonable approach, Russia did not offer any significant additions to the text. We limited ourselves to two sentences very modest, but important in the context of the correct assessment of the UN Security Council of the Ukrainian crisis. We regret that our amendments were not adopted “, he said.
At the same time, according to Nebenzi, “which has become on the rails of militarism Europe – today the only player in the international arena who wants to continue the war and by all means opposes any realistic initiatives to resolve the conflict”.
On Monday, February 24, the UN Security Council voted for the American resolution on conflict in Ukraine in its original form.
As reported on the UN website, a resolution “urgently calling for the establishment of a strong world between Ukraine and the Russian Federation” supported ten countries in the absence of votes against and five abstained. She became the first resolution adopted by the Security Council in Ukraine since the beginning of a full -scale conflict.
None of the amendments proposed by the Member States of the Council of Security – three European countries and two Russia – has not been adopted. Some are behind the lack of votes, and one – in connection with the veto of the permanent member.
Earlier on Monday, the USA was put up for the vote in the General Assembly. However, there it was adopted with amendments proposed by European countries.
