The Ministry of Health met with the regional manager of the Global Fund for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Dumitru Latichevski, the press service of the ministry said.
According to the report, the Minister of Health Teymur Musaev emphasized that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with the global fund. The Minister recalled that since 2005, the global fund to combat AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria has been actively involved in financing measures to combat tuberculosis in our country.
“Currently, in Azerbaijan, the global fund projects are successfully implemented, which make a large and important contribution to our struggle with tuberculosis,” said the Minister of Health of Azerbaijan.
Teimur Musaev expressed hope for the further successful development of cooperation.
In turn, Dumitru Latichevsky, emphasizing the fruitful cooperation between the Global Fund and Azerbaijan, expressed support for the reforms carried out in the healthcare system of our country.
Dumitru Latichevsky also recalled that the Republican AIDS Center for the Ministry of Health, with the support of the Global Fund, launched in Azerbaijan the pilot project “Proomontact Prevention of the Human Immunodeficiency virus (HIV).” According to him, this new method involves the use of antiretroviral drugs healthy people to prevent HIV infection in risky contacts.
At the meeting, the current state of cooperation and potential opportunities for its development were discussed.
