Moldova, despite the neutrality assigned to its Constitution, will modernize his army, said the Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Foreign Affairs and European integration of the country Nikolai Popescu.
“We are a neutral state according to the Constitution, but neutrality does not mean demilitarization. Neutral states are even more than allied states need strong, modern, functional armies that can protect neutrality,” he said.
Popescu noted that the management of Moldova counts on the help of external partners in strengthening and updating the armed forces. He emphasized that the country’s defense has been in a neglected state for the past 30 years since the country’s declaration of independence.
