The Spanish post office on Monday, December 5, found three more parcels with the eyes of animals addressed to Ukraine’s diplomatic departments in Spain, BBC reports.
According to Spanish police, new packages were sent to the Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid, as well as consulates in Barcelona and Malaga, but security officers intercepted them in the office of the country’s national postal operator. According to the Reuters source, the police did not find explosives in the package.
At the end of last week, the Ukrainian embassies of Hungary, the Netherlands, Poland, Croatia, Italy, the Czech Republic and Spain reported on obtaining animal eyes. Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba called these letters “a terror planned by the campaign and intimidation of embassies and consulates.”
The parcels with the eyes of the animals were preceded by a parcel with explosives found by Spain’s security for several companies and organizations. Among them there was a letter with a bomb sent to the prime minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez. On November 30, one of the mined parcels exploded in the courtyard of the building of the Embassy of Ukraine in Madrid. Then his employee who opened the parcel was injured.
On Saturday, the Spanish police said that all six letters with bombs, judging by the information available, were sent from the city of Valadolid in the north-west of Spain. Unknown also stained with excrement the door of the apartment of the Ukrainian ambassador in the Vatican. And the Embassy of Ukraine in Kazakhstan received a false message about mining, said the speaker of the country’s Foreign Ministry Oleg Nikolenko.
According to Nikolenko, together with the three packages of the entire Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Monday, it is already known about 21 attempts to send such letters or parcels.
