New government approved in Libya

The House of Representatives (Parliament) of Libya approved the composition of the Government of National Unity of Libya. RIA Novosti reports.

The sitting of the parliament is broadcast live on Libyan TV channels.

“This government has been endowed with a vote of confidence,” said the head of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, after the vote count.

A special meeting of the House of Representatives of Libya to discuss the adoption of a vote of confidence in the country’s transitional government has been held in the city of Sirte since Sunday. To participate in the meeting, 132 deputies from various parts of the country arrived in this city, known for the fact that he was born and in its vicinity was killed in 2011, the former leader of the Libyan Jamahiriya Muammar Gaddafi.

A few days earlier, the elected Prime Minister of Libya, Abdel Hamid Dbeiba, sent to parliament a list of candidates for ministerial positions in the future government of the country. It will consist of 26 ministers, two deputy prime ministers, and five more people will be appointed by government ministers. All of its members, according to the agreements reached, were not supposed to occupy posts in the previous governments of Libya.

The UN-sponsored Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in early February in Geneva elected a transitional executive branch of Libya, which will lead the country until the general elections scheduled for December 24.
