New Minister of Defense of Ukraine is appointed Rustem Umarov

Verkhovna Rada appointed Rustem Umarov by the new Minister of Defense instead of Alexei Reznikov, said deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak in Telegram.

Umerov’s candidacy was supported by 338 people’s deputies.

Umarov previously headed the state property fund.

Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday, September 5, supported the dismissal of Alexei Reznikov from the post of Minister of Defense of the country.

Talking about Reznikov’s resignation from the post of Minister of Defense preceded various scandals about possible corruption purchases for the army and military uniforms and equipment.

Since September, the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky in an evening video message said that he decided to dismiss the Minister of Defense Alexei Reznikov, he called the candidacy for this position – the chairman of the State Property Fund Rustem Umarov.

The head of state noted that the Ministry needs new approaches and other formats of interaction with both the military and society as a whole.

After that, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Alexei Reznikov submitted a statement about his resignation to the parliament and said that he was ready to report on his work before the people’s deputies.
