The Russian Ambassador to Washington, Alexander Darchiev, went to the United States to his service place. On Wednesday, on March 26, the Russian state media reports.

The government board flew out of the St. Petersburg airport Pulkovo to John Kennedy International Airport in New York on March 26 at 11.00 Moscow time. In St. Petersburg, the plane flew from the government airport of Vnukovo-2 in Moscow.

Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Alexander Darchiev to the post of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to the United States in March this year.

The agreement to ensure the speedy appointment of Russia’s ambassadors in the USA and the USA in Russia was reached in the negotiations of Moscow and Washington in Riyadh on February 18.

Washington handed over to Moscow an official note with Agremn to appoint Darchiev as an ambassador after negotiations on February 27 in Istanbul.

This was the result of the resumed dialogue between Russia and the United States about the normalization of relations, which is aimed primarily, as Moscow noted, to restore the full work of diplomats.

Prior to Darchiev, this post from 2017 to 2024 was held by Anatoly Antonov. Last summer, he announced the end of his mission and returned to the Russian Federation.

According to the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov, the main tasks of the new ambassador Darchiev will be the development of the Russian Federation and the USA, as well as the defending the interests of Russia behind the ocean.

Prior to the appointment to the post of Russian ambassador in Washington, Darchiev headed the Department of the North Atlantic of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In the period from 2014 to 2021, he was the Russian Ambassador to Canada.
