New terminal of Airport of city of Almaty served first flights

On Saturday, the first of June, the new terminal of the Airport of the city of Almaty after the opening served the first flights. This is stated in the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan.

“The flight KS-664 Air Astana” along the London-Almaty route landed at the Airport of Almaty at 08-50h. On board the Airbas-a321 aircraft, which made the flight there were 94 passengers. It is planning to maintain the KS -653 Air Astana airline on the route of Almaty -Docha.

The construction of the new terminal of the Airport of the city of Almaty was started in May 2021 and was implemented completely at the expense of private investments. The area of ​​the terminal is 53 thousand sq.m. The terminal has 7 telescopic ramps, 50 registration racks, a modern baggage processing system with 4 ribbons and a capacity of 6.2 thousand luggage units for arrival and departure.

After the launch of the new terminal, the airport’s capacity will grow up to 14 million passengers per year. It is expected that after the opening of the international terminal, 15 international routes in 10 countries by Kazakhstan and foreign airlines will be launched in the near-and-term perspective at the airport.
