New York does not cope with influx of migrants

New York mayor Eric Adams announced the introduction of an emergency regime in the city in connection with an unprecedented influx of migrants, foreign media write.

According to Adams, $ 1 billion will be spent on the settlement of the crisis in the current financial year.

As the mayor stated, more than 17 thousand migrants (mainly from the countries of South America) who want to get asylum in the United States arrived in New York since April. For their placement, places were provided in 42 shelters for the homeless. According to Adams, this is “a record number in the history of the city shelters system.”

according to his estimates, if migrants arrive at the same pace, then in the coming year the number of people in need of placement in shelters will exceed 100 thousand people.
