New Zealand announced a new package of military and humanitarian aid for Ukraine for $ 16 million. According to the press service of the New Zealand government, this is stated in a joint statement of Foreign Ministers Winston Peters and defense Judith Collins.
The statement notes that Russia began “illegal full -scale invasion” to Ukraine, grossly violating international law, including the UN Charter, which significantly influenced regional and global stability.
“That’s why New Zealand continues to support Ukraine, and with this package of 25.9 million New Zealand dollars the total volume of assistance provided over the past two years will exceed 100 million (62 million US dollars). This demonstrates unshakable support for the new Zealand of Ukraine and ours. A serious commitment to the protection of an international system based on the rules, ”said Peters.
The Minister of Defense, in turn, noted that the 97 New Zealand military over the past two years, together with partners in the EU and the UK, trained Ukrainian intelligence soldiers, communications and provided material and technical support.
Collins said that the country’s government decided to continue the deployment of the Ministry of Defense to support Ukraine until June 2025, and from July of this year, New Zealand instructors will begin specialized training of Ukrainian specialists in the provision of wounded in hostilities, engineering and technical training and disposal of explosive ammunition .
The minister emphasized that military personnel will be based exclusively in Europe, no one will go to Ukraine.
