The leading information agencies of the Asia-Pacific region called for cooperation and joint work in the fight against misinformation.
In Istanbul on October 23, the 51st conference of the organization of information agencies of the Asian and the Pacific Ocean (OANA), organized under the chairmanship of the Anadolu agency.
Speaking at the panel session of the conference on the “Field of cooperation of news agencies in the fight against misinformation”, the chairman of the board of the Azerbaijani State news news agency Azertaj Vugar Aliyev affected the joint work of news agencies in the fight against misinformation.
“Disinformation, fake news – this is a weapon, and the purpose of those who create it is to convert this weapon against society. There are personal interests at the heart.” – said Aliyev.
He noted that fake news can lead to more serious consequences. According to him, the Azerbaijani society underwent the greatest impact of fake news during the Karabakh war.
Aliyev proposed to open an OANA heading on the fake news on the OANA website, where each agency will place the false information he discovered.
“After the Covid-19, in Japan, the news”
began to quickly spread in Japan
Director of the International Department of the Japanese News Agency Kyodo Moriasu Chikazava said that the explosors of the news began to quickly spread in Japan after the pandemic Covid-19, and the studies conducted by the Ministry of Communications showed that a significant number of people believed this information.
According to him, according to the results of the study, young people believe more and are divided by such misleading content, since they mainly use social networks to access information.
“Information agencies need to strengthen the faith in the dissemination of accurate information not only through traditional media, such as newspapers and television, but also through the platforms of social networks,” Moriasu believes.
Deputy General Director of TASS Mikhail Gusman explained that they attach particular importance to teaching their own employees to combat disinformation and organize programs for the exchange of experience.
Guzman said that they have the opportunity to expand mutual cooperation with the help of joint programs organized with other information agencies.
