In the Nigerian state of Benue, 11 people were killed as a result of an armed attack.
According to local media reports, the attack occurred in the Kwand area in Benue. Unknown attackers opened fire, as a result of which 11 people died, many were injured. It is also reported that numerous houses were set on fire during the attack, and several people were stolen in order to obtain a ransom.
Benue Station periodically becomes the arena of armed attacks. Last month, 30 people were killed as a result of an attack in the Logo region.
Nigeria has been faced with the attacks of armed gangs in recent years, as well as terrorist organizations, such as Boko Haram and ISWAP (West African branching of the deaash).
Despite the fact that for the abduction of people in order to obtain a ransom in the country there is a death penalty, such cases occur regularly. Armed groups usually attack villages, schools and travelers, mainly in the north of the country, with the aim of extortion.
