North American Air Defense Command (NORAD), the United Aerospace Defense System of the United States and Canada, announced the discovery of a Russian military aircraft in the international aircraft off the coast of Alaska.
Norad said that the Russian military aircraft was discovered in the identification zone of Alaska Air Defense (Adiz) and observation was monitored.
The Russian aircraft remained in the international airspace and was not included in the airspace of the United States or Canada, the command said.
At the same time, the message notes that Russia’s activity in the identification zone of Alaska Air Defense (Adiz) is considered as a threat.
The command announced “readiness to use a number of intervention options” to protect North America.
