“North Korea can strike at Japan with ballistic missiles with nuclear weapons.” This is stated in the report of the Ministry of Defense of Japan, which also states that the weapon experienced by Pyongyang this year creates unique problems for Tokyo defense networks.
“It is believed that North Korea has the ability to attack Japan with ballistic missiles carrying nuclear weapons, and it continues to develop ballistic missiles with extremely fast pace,” the report says.
In the annual report, an argument was also presented for the first time in favor of possible counterattacks. The ruling liberal-democratic party earlier this year suggested Tokyo to expand options for response strikes against possible attacks by North Korea.
The report also says that the DPRK has repeatedly launched intercontinental ballistic missiles with extremely high frequency, unilaterally strengthening provocations against the international community.
Representatives of the ruling party of Japan called on the government to purchase weapons to strike a response on the command and control systems of the DPRK, as well as on military bases, which is a significant deviation from the policy of Japan, oriented exclusively to the defense in the post -war period.
The latest report also expresses concern about provocations by Pyongyang, which is an “obvious link to the seventh nuclear test, which the United States has repeatedly stated.”
Note that only this year Pyongyang spent almost two dozen missile tests. Many of these shells can theoretically hit Tokyo and all other large cities of Japan.
Japan is already developing its own hypersonic missiles that can strike at enemy bases. In addition, on July 24, the Japanese Aerospace Research Agency (JAXA) successfully launched an observation missile from its space center of the Uchinoir.
