The DPRK government ordered North Korean trading companies in Russia to take away the personnel who will be sent to Donbass, writes the South Korean edition of Daily NK with reference to sources.
The order was received on January 20. It was received by Cholhyon Construction and Kumruung Construction, related to the DPRK Ministry of Defense. They were supposed to take men from 19 to 27 years old until the end of January.
According to sources, given the connection of companies with the military department, North Korea is going to send “soldiers or police officers, not civilians” to the Donbass, since they are “easier to control.”
The exact number of DPRK citizens who will be sent to the occupied territories of Ukraine is unknown. According to the interlocutors of the publication, the “first batch” will include 300-500 people. The North Koreans must be married so that their families remain in the country – this supposedly will help to avoid desertion. Most likely, they are “sent” in mid -February or in March. The order does not specify what tasks will be set before the security forces upon arrival in the east of Ukraine. However, sources believe that most likely, the DPRK citizens will engage in “restoration work”, and will not participate in hostilities. What Pyongyang will receive in return is unknown. The publication notes that the DPRK government can send an additional military income to the country’s budget.
