The Norwegian Foreign Ministry warned Georgia about the threat of deterioration of relations due to the draft new Law “On Transparency of Foreign Infant”, according to which Tbilisi would create a “foreign agents” basis among legal entities and put them under special control.
“Norway is concerned about the bill that mentions NGOs as“ foreign agents. ”This contradicts the steady European desire and interests of the Georgian people. It will adversely affect Georgian -Norwegian relations,” the Norway Foreign Ministry, which is quoted by the Georgian media.
Earlier, the European Foreign Relations Service, commenting on the draft new law, said that it contradicts the recommendations of the European Commission to obtain the status of a candidate in the EU and its norms.
In Georgia, an opposition is opposed to the bill, assuring that the ruling party “Georgian Dream” is behind the “power of the people”. President Salome Zurabishvili does not intend to support him. Both the opposition and the president claim that the Institute of Ino Agents will make Georgia closer not to the West, but to Russia.
