Norway will provide 30 million euros of irrevocable Moldovan assistance to strengthen energy security, improve the field of education and promote proper state governance.
This was stated by the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gar Gar Steer, during a “round table in energy”, organized by the Norwegian Agency of Cooperation (Norad) in Oslo, Moldovan State Media reports.
“Republic of Moldova is an inspiring example of how democratization and progress can occur even in extremely difficult circumstances. Financial support in the amount of 30 million euros, which we distinguish, will be used to expand cooperation in several sectors, including education and efforts on an effective management in the country, ”said Steer.
Moldova President Maya Sandu stated at the event that the Norwegian people supported Chisinau at a critical moment to help overcome the numerous difficulties that the country faced.
“Moldova highly appreciates the generosity of the Norwegian people who supported us in critical moments to help us overcome the numerous difficulties that we have encountered and helps us strengthen our stability,” said the head of state Maya Sandu.
The Minister of Energy of Moldova Viktor Parlikov emphasized Chisinau’s commitment to the process of strengthening energy stability and affected the country’s plans in the field of energy efficiency, energy from renewable sources, digitalization and cybersecurity of the energy sector, as well as promoting sustainable international partnerships.
“The Republic of Moldova seeks to speed up the transition to a more environmentally friendly and sustainable energy future, and support offered by partners such as Norway is crucial in achieving this vision,” the head of the department emphasized.
A round table organized under the auspices of Norad gathered senior people of Norway, as well as representatives of the Norwegian energy ecosystem.
Maya Sandu on May 6-7, accompanied by Foreign Minister Mikhai Popshoy, Minister of Energy of Viktor Parlikov and Minister of Defense Anatoly Nosyaty visited Norway as part of a state visit at the invitation of the royal family. This is the first visit of the President of Moldova to Norway.
