At the Caspian, seals continue to die. This was reported by Kazinform with reference to the message of Zhayyk-Caspian inter-regional basin inspection of fishing.
From October 24 to November 18, inspection staff during the monitoring of the Caspian Sea coast in the Tupkaragan district of the Mangistau region discovered 1,155 seals thrown ashore.
“During air intelligence during the inspection of the coast of the Mangistau region – the islands of Kulala, Teniz, Podgorny, New, as well as the territory of the Karazhanbas and Kalamkas deposits from the helicopter, another 834 seals were found. The main part – more than 500 individuals – was discovered on the island of Kulala For this period, we collected a total of 1989 carcasses of dead seals, ”the statement said.
According to the acting head of the inspection of the fishing economy of the Mangistau region Andrei Rutsky, the bodies of the seals were greatly laid out, so it was not possible to take pathological material.
“We took samples of tissues and internal organs of seals. PCR analysis was performed for verification for bird flu, plague, salmonelosis, pasteurellosis, leaferiosis and other infectious diseases. All analyzes showed that these diseases are absent. Carcasses of dead seals were sent to The landfill in the Tupkaragan region for the death of seals will be established after the completion of all laboratory studies. Such, one of the factors is that during a storm that lasted several weeks, the seals who died on the coasts of other countries were thrown out on our waters, ”said Andrei Rutsky.
Earlier, in early November, more than 500 dead seals were discovered on the Caspian coast. Later, the number of dead seals approached 1000.
In addition, in the Mangistau region, mass extinction of not only seals, but also fish of sturgeon rocks and waterfowls was recorded.
