The number of flood victims caused by spillful rains in Brazil increased to 29.
Rains, lasting for some time in the state of Riu-Grandi-Do-Sul in the south of the country, caused destruction and human sacrifices.
A civil defense statement reports that 60 missing searches are being conducted.
It is noted that the rains caused serious damage to 154 settlements. 71,300 people were injured from floods.
The governor of the Ri-Grandi-Do-Sul Eduardo Leita said that the authorities have not yet been able to get to some settlements.
“We are experiencing an extremely exceptional situation. This is not a critical event, but the most destructive in the history of the state,” the statement says.
He noticed that the number of victims can grow.
According to Leita, search and rescue work is carried out from land, sea and air.
In connection with the state of the distress, the state has been announced an emergency for 180 days. Work is underway to evacuate residents from the distress zone.
On the other hand, it is reported about the collapse of the dam on the Antas River, which could not stand the strong stream.
