Voting on the draft law on the new Constitution of Uzbekistan at the referendum on April 30 corresponded to the national legislation of this country and international norms.
This assessment was made by the heads of the observation missions of the organization of the Turkic states (OTG) and the parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic states (Turkpa) at a press conference in Tashkent.
According to the deputy secretary general general of Omer Kodzhaman, the organization’s observant mission began activities in Uzbekistan on April 28, and visited 25 polling stations on the voting day.
He noted that the referendum was organized professionally, voting and counting of votes were held in a transparent environment.
Kojaman emphasized that no serious obstacles were recorded for the free will of voters. There were also no technical problems that could affect the voting results, he noted.
In turn, the head of the observation mission of the Turkpa Receps Scheker said that the mission members were closely monitored by the voting process – from the opening of the sites to the counting of votes.
The Mission of the Turkpa positively appreciated the work of the Central Election Commission for the training of lower commissions and ensuring the transparency of the referendum process, the sheker added.
