Employees of the anti-corruption prosecutor’s office seize documents in the office of the Party of Socialists of Moldova, since the former leader of the socialists, ex-president Igor Dodon is accused of illegal financing of political formation, the head of the press service of the Prosecutor General of Marianna Kerpek told RIA Novosti.
“Employees of the anti -corruption prosecutor’s office are carrying out a procedure for the seizure of documents from the office of the Socialist Party. The operation takes place as part of an investigation of the case of illegal financing of the political party,” said Kerpek.
Employees of the anti -corruption prosecutor’s office on May 24 detained Dodon, whom the authorities suspect of passive corruption, illegal enrichment, financing of the party at the expense of the criminal organization and betrayal of the homeland. Searches and investigative events were held in the house of the former leader. The next day, official charges were brought to him, the prosecutor’s office insisted on preliminary arrest for 30 days, but the court ruled that Dodon would spend this term under house arrest. The prosecutor’s office and lawyers of the ex-president himself protested this decision, but the appeal chamber upheld the decision of the court of first instance.
