The oldest panda in Japan named Tang Tan died at the age of 28. This was announced by the Japanese GOSTELEKANAL NHK.
Tan Tang died in the zoo of the city of Kobe in the west of the country, where she spent the last 24 years. Panda was born in 1995 in the province of Sychuan in China.
She was brought to Kobe in 2000 in order to cheer up local residents after a strong earthquake that fell to the west of Japan in 1995.
Tan Tan was planned to be sent back to his homeland in 2020 after the expiration of the lease agreement. However, the return was postponed due to coronavirus pandemia, and later due to the fact that the animal was treated with heart disease.
According to zoologists, 28 years for Panda equivalents 80-100 years of human life.
