Omer Bolat: “Development Road” Project Of Development And Modernization Of Iraq

The Minister of Trade of Turkey Omer Bolat, who is on a working visit to Iraq, holds meetings with officials and representatives of the Iraq business world.

Minister Bolat spoke at a round table meeting with the participation of Turkish and Iraqi contracting companies in Baghdad.

He noted that mutual trade with Iraq is at the level of $ 20 billion, the governments of the two countries are determined to increase it to $ 30 billion in the medium term. “

“Turkey fully supports Iraq in the implementation of the development road. We really want it to be completed by the intended time – 2030. We are ready to participate in this project as a Turkish government, Turkish consultants and contractors,” said Minister.

According to Bolat, starting in 1975, for about 50 years, Turkish contractors completed 1111 projects in Iraq. The cost of these projects amounted to 35 billion dollars. About 85 percent of these projects were completed after 2002.

Speaking about the project “The Development Path”, the minister noted that this project is the most important economic issue of Iraq. Türkiye fully supports Iraq as part of this project, it is important that it is completed by 2030.

The Turkish government, Turkish consultants and contractors are ready to participate in the successful implementation of this project. The importance of this project is also that large logistics centers, warehouses and industrial complexes will be created in Iraq.
