Belarusian border guards are already checking citizens and transport on the border with Russia, the State Border Committee of the Republic said on Saturday.
On the eve, it became known about the introduction of Minsk temporary border control on the Russian-Belarusian border. “We are talking about six main tracks of automobile messages. Checks can be carried out against persons and transport,” the BelTA State Border Committee quoted.
Verification of documents at border control points is carried out as part of the execution of the ratification agreement on the mutual recognition of visas with Russia, the department explained.
On the eve of May 5, it became known that citizens entering Belarus from the territory of Russia began to check their passports. In Minsk, they said that control is temporary.
An agreement on the mutual recognition of visas issued to citizens of third countries, Russia and Belarus were signed in 2020. According to the document, foreigners who have received a visa of Russia or Belarus will be able to cross the boundaries of the second country without receiving an additional visa.
At the same time, each of the parties will be able to refuse the foreigner at the entrance for security purposes. Also, both countries can reduce the stay. Belarus ratified the agreement in 2020, Russia – at the beginning of 2023.
The agreement is designed to eliminate the conflict that created uncertainty with the intersection of the Russian-Belarusian border by citizens of third countries.
