The island of Zmein was completely returned to the jurisdiction of Ukraine, said Natalya Gumenyuk, head of the United Coordination Press Center of the South of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“The flag of Ukraine is installed on the island of Zmein. The military operation was completed and the territory was returned to the jurisdiction of Ukraine again,” said Gumenyuk.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation previously confirmed the withdrawal of the Russian military from the island of Zmein, according to which in recent weeks the Armed Forces of Ukraine regularly inflicted missile strikes. Moscow introduced a retreat from the island as a “gesture of goodwill.” The Ukrainian command states that the retreat of Russians from the island of Zmein is the merit of the Armed Forces.
