In the USA, the eighth day of California is raging destructive forest fires. In a number of evacuated areas, local residents were allowed to return to the places of residence and inspect at home.
According to the ANADOLA crew, American Eric Makmakhon, upon returning to the ITON district in the east of Los Angeles, found only ash and rubble on the site of the house.
“This is really a tremendous event compared to what we were experiencing before. There is a mountainous area, and we know that there is always a danger of fire. For 36 years that I live here, we were evacuated, probably three or four times. But this is definitely not like what took place earlier, ”the woman said to Anadol.
According to Makmakhon, the flame that spread due to strong winds and covered the area of the house was the largest that she had ever seen.
The woman says that on the day of receipt of a notification of the need to evacuate before late evening, she sat at home and did not want to leave. However, Makmakhon did not suggest that the flames would reach the houses in the back row so quickly. The children helped her leave housing and escape from the fire at the last moment.
Seven days after the start of the fire, the woman was able to return to her native area, where she lived for 36 years, but only ash and fragments remained in the place of the house. “We are lucky, we have insurance. You know, over the past few months, the insurance of some homeowners has been canceled, because the insurance company no longer wanted to insure them. Therefore, there will be people who will remain unspired,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
I seem to be in a nightmare and I can’t wake up
Sean McMahon, who grew up in Altadena, says that when he saw the ashes of her mother’s house, she felt “in a nightmare, from which I could not wake up.” “I have the feeling that our whole life has burned and turned into ashes,” the woman complains.
According to Makmakhon, over the decades of life, in the result of the house, a house was evacuated more than once because of forest fires, but the family returned back every time, so the mother did not take a lot of things with her. In the Makmakhon family, they could never have assumed that something similar could happen to them.
Brian McMakhon, who came to help his mother, said that he had experienced many evacuation since childhood, but when he woke up on the morning of January 8, he thought that this time something is wrong.
“I probably woke up at about 8 in the morning and thought:” Why is it so dark? “I thought that I had to look out and saw the smoke from the fires, then looked at the sky and thought:” It’s bad, “the American said. < /p>
According to the former policeman, the scale of the disaster was caused by a strong wind. According to Makmakhon, he is glad that his mother survived, but also saddened by the death of some neighbors.
