After the completion of repair and construction work, the Central branch of the bank ABB resumed its activities, located in the famous historical building of the bank at ul. G.Z. Tagieva, 3, built at the beginning of the XX century.
A short film was demonstrated at the opening ceremony on January 30, thanks to which a brief excursion was made into the history of the building. Visitors to the event got acquainted with the museum historical corner of the ABV, where interesting exhibits are dedicated to various periods of banking. It was also possible to get acquainted with the conditions created in the branch in order to ensure the highest level of customer service.
The foundation of the building, which houses the central branch of the Bank ABV in 1903. Initially, this building was intended for banking, therefore, the inscription “Bank” and the image of Mercury, which, according to ancient Roman mythology, is a patron god of trade, profit and enrichment, was cut out on the facade of the building. Since 1905, the building operated in the Baku Northern Bank, the subsidiary of the Societe Generale group. In the period from 1910 to 1920, the Baku branch of the Bank of Russia-Asia, which was considered the largest bank of the country at that time, was located here. After 1924, the building housed one of the box office of the former State Bank of the USSR in Baku.
Further, since the 50s of the last century, a communal agricultural-construction bank was in the building. In the 60s, individual parts of the building were used by other enterprises. Later, the Baku office of one of the banks of the USSR functioned in the building.
Since the creation of the Bank ABV on January 10, 1992, the bank’s head office began to operate in the building. Since 1995, customer service began in the bank building as the central branch of the Avb.
by a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Azerbaijan Republic of August 2, 2001, the building was taken under the protection of the state as a historical monument of culture of national significance. As part of the project on the transformation of the AVV branches, the complete reconstruction and modernization of the building with the preservation of the historical interior and exterior was completed.
