Opera “Traviata” On January 23 Will Be Exhibited In Istanbul

The new production of the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (İDOB) “Traviata” will be the first premiere of the season 2024-2025.

As reported in the İDob statement, the rehearsals of the production are already ending, and the premiere will be held on January 23 at the Ataturk Cultural Center (AKM).

Alexander Duma’s novel “Lady with Camellias”, written in 1848, after his publication became not only a literary bestseller, but also inspired many productions in the theater and ballet.

Giuseppe Verdi turned this story into an opera masterpiece “Traviata”, the libretto to which Francesco Maria Pave wrote.

The opera investigates the problems of public hypocrisy, the roles allotted to women, and the liberating power of love hiding behind the bright life of Parisian society. Violetta, the central character of the opera, is both a strong and fragile woman who ended up in the epicenter of these conflicts.

The production created by the artistic director of the state opera and ballet with Recep Ayylymaz using various types of art will be presented with the choreography of Kurshat Kylych.

The ̇dob orchestra in the course of the operas will be conducted by Alessandro de Marches and Zdravko Lazarov, and in chorus – Paolo Villa.

The role of Violetta Valerie will play Dilruba Bilgi and Hale Soner Kekecch, in the role of Alfredo Germon – Merty Sungyu and Ufuk Toker, in the role of Georgio Germon – Gianner Akgun and Serhat Konukman, in the role of Flora of Bervois – Aichin Syurujuler and Elif Tugba Tekyshik, in the role of Flora The roles of Gaston – Joel Keshap and Burke Ozbek, in the role of Baron Dufol – Burak Kul and Mehmet Odjar Odjar, in the role of the Marquis d’Ocyini – Shahin Dedemen and Erdem Gedik, in the role of Dr. Grenville – Emre Günger and Erdem Sakar, in the role of Annina – Gulgun Oziaigit and Seda Tashpynar, in the role of Giuseppe – Khazal Ata and Anyl Onder, as a commissar – Chagdash Bektash, in the role of Alexander Dumas – Selim Borah and Sinan Kaymak, and in the role of Giuseppe Verdi – Oktai Axa and Ugur Ilter (alternately).

The scenery for the performance was created by Chita Chitka, the costumes – Gyzem Belly, and the lighting – Yakup Chartyk. The production can also be seen on January 25, 29 and 30 in AKM.
