Extraordinary parliamentary elections in Armenia will take place only if Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan does not participate in them. Gegham Manukyan, a representative of the opposition movement to Save the Motherland, wrote about this on Facebook on Monday.
“And there will be elections, but only without Nikol. We are not going to hold pre-election debates with him,” he wrote.
On March 13, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian held separate meetings with Pashinyan, the head of the parliamentary ruling bloc “My Step” Lilit Makunts and the leader of the opposition faction “Enlightened Armenia” Edmon Marukyan. As reported by the presidential press service, they discussed the possibility of holding early parliamentary elections as a way to overcome the internal political crisis in the country. The largest opposition group, the Movement to Save the Motherland, did not participate in these negotiations.
