The first case of human infection is confirmed by Ospa Monkeys in Germany, reported by Focus Online with reference to the Institute of Bundeswehr microbiology.
According to the publication, the virus was found in the patient on Thursday. The patient manifested characteristic skin changes.
In addition, two confirmed cases of infection of people with smallpox monkeys are recorded in Belgium. On Friday, the list of countries where this infection was identified also replenished by France, Italy, Sweden and Australia. According to data, the monkeys infected with smallpox are recorded in Spain, Great Britain, Portugal, Canada, USA.
According to the reports of the healthcare authorities and local media, in the USA, Canada, Australia, Spain, Portugal and Great Britain, several cases of monkey smallpox are already investigated – both alleged and already confirmed.
The virus is not so easily transmitted from person to person, and the risk of mass infection is reported, very low.
