International migration has become an urgent global problem of the agenda.
In 2020, 281 million people migrated outside their country or region of birth, which is 3.6% of the population of the planet. This is evidenced by the data of the Office of the Supreme Commissariat of the UN Human Rights (UN UN).
The problem of migration is felt in almost all regions of the world. International organizations and national governments do not have sufficient opportunities to solve it because of a number of negative processes that have occurred over the past 20 years.
The number of people who are forced to leave their constant residence due to wars, frozen conflicts, inequality of income and ineffective management has reached an unprecedented level. Global warming and environmental disasters can also be added to the reasons for this process.
According to the UN UNCH, 86.7 million people migrated to Europe, 85.6 million to Asia, 58.7 million to North America, 25.4 million to Africa, to Latin America and the Caribbean region – 14.8 million, in the Oceania countries, including Australia, – 9.4 million people.
The document states that about 108.4 million people around the world were forcibly moved in 2022 as a result of persecution, conflicts, violence and human rights violations.
